Perseverance Really Can Pay Off In IM
It goes without saying that anyone in IM can have days where they want to throw in the towel. Let’s face it; this can be a very lonely business. You sit all day staring at a computer screen, and sometimes the only conversation you have is talking/yelling to your keyboard, mouse or invisible friend in the room
Some, if not most people belong to forums. That way they can find out what the “latest and greatest” thing is to make life easier or in other words, to find out what the “shiny object” of the day is. This is great and can be helpful, but what if you have a question? How many forums are there that you could ask a question about something you may not understand, and get an answer without feeling belittled? I’m not saying ALL forums are like this. Actually, I know for a fact that not all forums are that way.
Here recently, I was catching up at the WordPress Goldmine Forum I belong to. I prefer this forum over the others, you’ll see why in a minute.
Like all forums, you have the main menu that lists all of the forum topics/threads that are going on. There is one particular thread here that always captures my attention, the one called Success/Testimonial forum. I really enjoy this section, not only for the fact that you can cheer on someone who is starting to succeed, but you may even pick up a few pointers of how that success was achieved along the way. WPGM isn’t like any other IM forum in existence. I know you’ve probably heard this before about other forums. I haven’t found any that can not only help out someone fresh starting out in IM, but also help and work with the more “seasoned” players. And when I say “seasoned”, I’m talking about people who have been doing IM for quite a number of years, and also have their own products out on the market. And yes, if you happen to fall somewhere between that broad spectrum, there’s still something there for you, too.
Okay, back to the topic at hand, the success/testimonial forum. There was a recent post that really should hit home with anyone working in IM.
One of the forum members has been doing IM for a few years now. She, like a lot of the members at the WordPress Goldmine Forum had tried a variety of on-line programs before they discovered WPGM. With the guidance of not only Mark Thompson (creator/owner/all around super guy), but various members of the forum, she has totally turned her world around! With her permission, here is what she attributed her success to:
1) It IS possible to make money online
2) Anyone can make money on line – as most IMer’s know, doubt and disbelief can be very debilitating – it’s hard to stay motivated when you’re not sure what you’re doing and then you start to worry about Google rankings, and Google go and change their algorithm.
So how is it that you can make things work to succeed and see a growth in income?
1) Quality content – this cannot be stressed enough. Backlinks to your site are not going to do anything for you unless you have quality content for people to read.
2) SEO – This has been touted so much lately since the Panda update. It’s time we all started to take notice. You don’t need to keyword stuff your posts/pages, but you do need to make sure the search engines area aware of them.
3) Low search volume keywords – There may not be very many searches for a particular keyword or phrase, but when used correctly, they can make a HUGE difference in your rankings, and thus, your income.
4) Age – Just like fine wine, Google really likes aged, mature sites. But, if you’ve got something rather new, don’t worry and freak out if you’re not ranking right away. After all this is supposed to be a long-term event.
5) Patience – This is probably the hardest thing for any of us, me included. The internet is a wonderful thing, and even though you might be able to get search results instantly, ranking and search engine discovery are very far from instant. It takes time, and if you’ve built and optimized your site correctly, you can have lasting benefits.
The most common concern with ALL newbies, is can you do this on a tight budget? ABSOLUTELY
There is so much of IM that you can do for free. There are a few places though that you’ll definitely want to spend your money. One of those places is the WordPress Goldmine Forum. It is the kindest, most helpful place in the IM world. Don’t believe me? Try it yourself. $1 Special Offer.
