The ideal first place for you to start finding people who are interested in what you have to say are online forums that are dedicated to your niche topic. There are online forums for just about every niche topic out there – no matter how small or specialized.
If you cannot find an online forum dedicated to your specific niche, I am sure you can find a closely-related online forum where your topic is discussed. Join the biggest online forum in your niche and become an active member by making posts and helping people. This is the “giving” part of the equation.
Again, you have to give before you get. You cannot hop on the forum and expect to get thousands of followers who view you as an expert. You need to provide value for people so that when you finally launch your blog or website, you are going to get tons of visitors to your website.
Internet Branding Tool #2: Twitter
There is a reason why millions of people are jumping on the Twitter bandwagon, especially experts and people trying to make money online. Twitter is dead-simple to use; all you have to do is be able to type 140 characters or less to update the entire Twitter-universe.
The greatest feature of Twitter for someone just getting started is your ability to follow anyone else who uses the service. You can just use their “Find People” search function and you can follow people like Tony Robbins, Stephen Colbert, Ashton Kutcher, Oprah and just about anyone else.
While it is fun to follow celebrities, you will use the search feature to find the experts in your niche or topic of interest. Follow them, see what they post (posts are called tweets on Twitter) and you will learn how they are building their follower list.
In the end though, it all gets back to providing great, outstanding value to your followers – the people who decide to follow your tweets on Twitter.

After your website is up and running, you can then invite your forum and Twitter followers to head on over to your website and sign up to be on your email list. From there it is only a matter of time before you learn to monetize your list and make money online.
